Mourinho and Man Utd players fed-up with lack of board support

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is concerned about the support he is receiving from the board. The Sun says the Portuguese, 55, was furious again on Tuesday when his squad arrived late before their 1-0 home defeat to Juventus. He wanted a private security escort for the team coach — but police refused to provide one.

It meant that his struggling United stars were forced to spend 70 minutes on the bus as it crawled through heavy traffic on their half-mile journey from the nearby Hilton hotel.

Mourinho opted to make a very public walk to stadium, where he found Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli in the tunnel, along with vice-chairman Pavel Nedved.

An Old Trafford source revealed: “They and a battalion of directors arrived before the team and occupied the tunnel.

“It showed the power and organisation of a big club."

There was no such backing for Mourinho and Co from chief Ed Woodward or the rest of the United board.

The source added: “Some players don't hide any more how unhappy they are with the lack of support from the club.

“How can a club like United not organise security to escort the players. It would cost peanuts.

“The conclusion is that Woodward does not understand football."
