Juventus want Pogba back
Juventus are keen on re-signing Manchester United star Paul Pogba and asked the Red Devils to keep them updated about his future at the club during informal talks in Turin, Metro.co.uk understands. Pogba spent four years in Italy and returned for the first time earlier this month when the Frenchman helped United to a 2-1 win against his former club. The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months after a breakdown in his relationship with Jose Mourinho and the club noted his comments in the build-up to the clash where he said Juventus is still his ‘home’. Massimiliano Allegri feels Pogba’s sale undermined Juventus’ chances of winning the Champions League but the Old Lady displayed their ambition in the summer by signing Cristiano Ronaldo in a £99million deal.
United’s relationship with Juventus has remained strong since their civil negotiations over Pogba’s sale in 2016 and Metro.co.uk understands the Italians informally enquired about the Frenchman’s availability before the Champions League clash in Turin. A first option clause inserted into Pogba’s contract when he joined United in 2016 means the Red Devils must make Juventus aware if they’re to sell the Frenchman.
Juventus made it clear that they’d be interested in re-signing the midfielder should he become available and Pogba would be open to returning to the club. Reports in Italy this week claimed Pogba had spoken to former team-mates at Juventus and expressed his determination to return. The midfielder pulled out of France’s Nations League squad this week with injury but is expected to be fit for United’s clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
