Mane hails 'best decision in his career'

Sadio Mane has hailed the decision to move to Liverpool as the best of his career after he agreed a new long-term deal with the Reds.

The Senegalese forward has agreed an Anfield extension until 2023 , prolonging his stay on Merseyside following a £34m move from Southampton in 2016.Many questioned the wisdom of Liverpool spending so much on a player who had only performed in fits and starts during his time at St Mary's, but Mane has rewarded Jurgen Klopp's faith with 40 goals in 89 appearances for the Reds, including 20 last season.

He's found the net seven times in 14 appearances in the current campaign, and he detailed his delight to the Reds' official website.
“I am very happy, very happy to extend my time at Liverpool,” Mane told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood, where he was preparing for Saturday's visit to Watford .

“It is a great day for me and now I am looking forward to everything – to helping the team, to helping the club achieve our dreams and, especially, to win trophies.

“I’ve always said, when I knew I had a chance to come here I didn’t have to think twice. The right club in the right moment and with the right coach as well. I came here and was very happy.
“For me, I have made the best decision in my career.”

Mane's decision follows those of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, who both also agreed new deals earlier this year.

That means that all of Liverpool's first choice front three are now contracted to the Reds until 2023.
