Martial back in Man Utd training
Anthony Martial is back in full Manchester United training despite being forced to pull out of the latest France squad, though Paul Pogba did not take part in Tuesday’s session. Both players had to miss the world champions’ latest games against the Netherlands and Uruguay due to injury, with Martial struggling with a hip problem and Pogba having tweaked his thigh. But Martial – who has scored six goals in his last five Premier League appearances – took part in training at Carrington along with the rest of the players not involved with their countries during the international break.
Although Pogba was spotted arriving at the training centre, he did not take part in the session, adding to fears that he may not be fit in time to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday. Marouane Fellaini also missed the international fixtures, but took part in the session, while Diogo Dalot was involved and is finally fit and available again.
United’s England contingent, who last played on Sunday, are expected to report back for training on Wednesday with other international players returning later in the week. Martial’s fitness will be a welcome relief for Jose Mourinho, who is juggling a number of injury problems within his squad.
Romelu Lukaku had to withdraw from the Belgium squad with a hamstring problem that he received treatment for in Antwerp. Victor Lindelof was also a worry, having been subbed off at half-time of Sweden’s win over Turkey, though he was only suffering from a stomach bug and is expected to play in their crunch Nations League match on Tuesday evening.
