PSG looking to make move for GUEYE
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have turned to Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye as they seek a long-term replacement for Adrien Rabiot.
France international Rabiot has reportedly verbally agreed to move to Barcelona at the end of the season, when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires.
According to Paris United, Gueye is among the players being considered by PSG as the club explore their options.
Thomas Tuchel's side are looking at a January move for the Senegal international, amid reports in France that Rabiot could be permitted to leave in the winter window.
PSG sporting director Antero Henrique is considering allowing Rabiot - who had been linked with Liverpool - ahead of schedule, report Le Parisien.
Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey could also be pursued but reports suggest Bayern Munich are confident of completing a deal.
That will leave PSG free to acquire Gueye, who has impressed in England in spells at Aston Villa and now Everton, where he is a pivotal member of Marco Silva's first team.
He has started 11 of Everton's 12 Premier League games, with the Toffees ninth in the table.
Gueye himself attributes an encouraging start to the season to Silva, who he believes has given the team a new lease of life.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw with Chelsea, he said: “Everybody is focused on our ambitions, our manager gives us a lot of things to do in training which makes it easier when we play at the weekend.
“We try to work hard on the training ground, we know it is important to work hard if we want to fight with the top-five teams and we have to repeat these kinds of performances.
“Yes, of course, the training is changing, we train hard and you can see it in the way we play: we try to play football. We try to keep the ball. Even playing against Chelsea, in the first half, we did that well.
“It was harder in the second half but it was a good point, we know it is hard to play there. We went there to challenge Chelsea and play our football.
“We are getting better every week, so we have to keep going and continue trying to produce the same level of performance [as at Chelsea] – if we do that then we will win a lot of games.”
